Brewer: Oskar Blues Craft: Mama’s Little Yella Pils ABV: 5.3%
Since in my mind it’s Spring, that means that it’s time for pilsners. Pilsners are normally clean, crisp, and refreshing with a lightness and bitter finish to them. And those qualities lend themselves to the warmer than winter, yet rainy and still cool weather.
So I’ll be drinking some pilsners here in the next few days and weeks…
The Yella is not quite what I would call typical. It has a lightness to it. It has a bitter, albeit subtle, finish. And it is definitely refreshing. But there is a smoothness to this craft. And a creaminess. And a sweetness as well. I like this craft because it’s not the same. It’s a pilsner. But it’s got some character to it that separates it from the rest.
Mama’s Little Yella Pils is easy to drink and certainly makes me yearn for the warm renewal that is Spring. This is a nice way to start the pilsner series. Cheers!
